Terms of Use

Review the terms for using HomeBackup.net guides, calculators, forms, links, installation information, and other educational content.

Website terms

The conditions for using educational backup-power content, calculators, forms, and external links.

Policy position

Effective July 22, 2026. By using HomeBackup.net, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the site. These terms do not waive rights that cannot legally be waived and do not create an electrician, engineer, installer, medical, tax, legal, or fiduciary relationship.

EducationGeneral information only

Guides and tools help frame questions but do not approve a specific property or device.

VerificationCheck current documents

Specifications, compatibility, prices, incentives, and rules can change.

SafetyDo not use unsafe shortcuts

Combustion exhaust, backfeed, wiring, fuel, and batteries require proper controls.

CalculatorsEstimates, not guarantees

Results depend on user inputs, assumptions, conditions, and equipment behavior.

External sitesThird parties control transactions

Manufacturers, retailers, networks, and installers have separate terms and policies.

ConductUse the site lawfully

Do not attack, scrape abusively, impersonate, submit malware, or misuse forms.

Use boundary: Educational content leads to verification, not approval
The boundary between website information and an approved project.

Acceptance and changes

These terms apply to public pages, calculators, forms, downloadable material, feeds, and other HomeBackup.net features. Continued use after an updated version becomes effective constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law. The effective date appears near the beginning of the page.

The site can change, suspend, or retire content and features. A page can be updated when a product, law, policy, source, or methodology changes. HomeBackup.net does not promise that every historical page, link, calculator, form, or service will remain available indefinitely.

Educational information, not professional advice

Content is general education. It does not inspect the property, appliance, electrical service, fuel supply, medical need, local code, utility requirement, climate, or emergency plan. It is not a substitute for a qualified electrician, engineer, installer, fuel professional, clinician, tax adviser, lawyer, insurer, utility, manufacturer, or authority having jurisdiction.

A reader is responsible for obtaining advice appropriate to the actual decision. Statements about standards or model codes do not establish the locally adopted rule. Statements about products do not replace the current manual, warranty, compatibility list, or installation instructions for the exact model and region.

Safety responsibilities

Never operate a combustion generator in a home, garage, basement, crawlspace, shed attached to occupied space, or another enclosed or partly enclosed area. Keep equipment outdoors and away from doors, windows, vents, and openings according to current government and manufacturer guidance. Carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless and can kill quickly.

Do not connect a generator to household wiring by backfeeding through a receptacle. Use approved transfer equipment and qualified work. Do not open, alter, bypass, relocate, or combine batteries, inverters, transfer equipment, fuel systems, service conductors, or protective devices outside the manufacturer instructions and applicable approvals. Leave an unsafe area and contact emergency services or the utility when danger is immediate.

Calculators and illustrative results

Calculator outputs are planning estimates produced from user inputs and general assumptions. They do not measure the appliance, guarantee runtime, start a motor, verify waveform, check outlet current, establish 120/240-volt compatibility, account for every simultaneous load, apply generator derating, inspect solar shading, or determine a compliant installation.

Users must verify labels, manuals, measured consumption, startup demand, fuel-specific ratings, system limits, reserve, conversion losses, environmental conditions, transfer, conductors, and local requirements. HomeBackup.net is not responsible for a decision made by treating an estimate as a guaranteed equipment specification or approved design.

Product, price, warranty, and availability information

Products can change without notice. Names, specifications, firmware, accessories, compatibility, regions, bundles, prices, financing, stock, delivery, incentives, installation areas, and warranties may differ from the information last reviewed. A manufacturer maximum can require multiple units or accessories. A retailer listing can be inaccurate or unauthorized.

Before purchase, confirm the seller, exact model, included equipment, regional electrical version, warranty eligibility, return policy, delivery restrictions, installation responsibility, current manual, and compatibility with the intended loads. HomeBackup.net does not sell or warrant third-party equipment unless a separate transaction explicitly says otherwise.

Contact and installation forms

A form submission is a request for communication, not a contract, quote, installer match, acceptance, emergency service, or guarantee of response. Do not submit sensitive personal data, payment information, government identifiers, medical records, passwords, utility credentials, access codes, or content you are not authorized to provide.

The installation form requires the submitter to own the property or have authority to request the conversation. Any later project requires a separate written agreement with the actual provider. Verify contractor identity, license, insurance, scope, permits, warranty, payment terms, and references independently.

Affiliate links, advertising, and external services

HomeBackup.net may receive compensation from certain links, ads, or eligible inquiries. The Affiliate Disclosure explains material relationships. Advertising does not constitute endorsement, and commission availability does not guarantee product coverage or a favorable conclusion.

External destinations are controlled by third parties and have their own content, prices, terms, privacy practices, security, warranties, and customer service. HomeBackup.net is not responsible for a third party’s transaction, representation, outage, data practice, product, installation, or failure. A link does not guarantee continued availability or approval.

Calculator limits: An estimate answers only the modeled question
Why calculator output requires independent verification.

Intellectual property and permitted use

Unless otherwise stated, HomeBackup.net content, original graphics, page structure, and calculators are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Visitors may access and print a reasonable copy for personal, noncommercial planning. Quotation for commentary, reporting, or other lawful use must be limited, attributed, and linked when practical.

You may not republish substantial articles, copy the site into another commercial service, remove attribution, sell the calculators, train or populate a competing content product through systematic extraction, frame pages deceptively, or use trademarks in a way that implies affiliation. Rights such as fair use and other non-waivable exceptions remain available under applicable law.

Acceptable use

Do not use the site to violate law, infringe rights, impersonate another person, submit false authority, distribute malware, probe private data, bypass access controls, overload services, automate abusive requests, manipulate ads or affiliate attribution, harvest contact information, send spam, or interfere with another visitor.

Security research must avoid accessing, changing, retaining, or exposing data that is not yours. Do not conduct denial-of-service tests, destructive tests, credential attacks, or social engineering. The site can block traffic, reject submissions, preserve evidence, or report conduct when reasonably necessary for safety, security, legal compliance, or service integrity.

Messages, feedback, and submissions

You retain rights you have in a message, but grant HomeBackup.net permission to use the submission as reasonably necessary to respond, verify a claim, correct content, secure the site, and operate the requested process. Do not submit confidential information or material subject to restrictions that prevent this use.

Editorial suggestions do not create an obligation to publish, credit, compensate, maintain secrecy, or enter a relationship. Personal information is handled under the Privacy Policy. A correction report is handled under the Corrections Policy.

Availability and warranty disclaimer

The site and content are provided on an “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, HomeBackup.net disclaims warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or a particular result. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so they apply only to the permitted extent.

Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty or right that cannot legally be excluded. HomeBackup.net aims to maintain accurate guidance, but mistakes, outdated information, broken links, service interruptions, and third-party changes can occur. Use current primary documents and appropriate professional review.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HomeBackup.net and its contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost data, property damage, business interruption, equipment failure, food loss, installation cost, or injury arising from use of the site or reliance on third-party information. This paragraph does not limit liability that cannot legally be limited.

The user is responsible for safe operation, current verification, backups of important information, emergency planning, and professional approval. If a jurisdiction does not allow a stated limitation, the limitation applies only to the maximum extent allowed there.

Applicable law and disputes

These terms are interpreted under law applicable to the website operator and the transaction or conduct at issue, without attempting to waive mandatory consumer protections or statutory rights. The site does not impose a mandatory arbitration clause or class-action waiver through this general version.

Before starting a formal dispute, contact HomeBackup.net with a clear description and requested resolution when it is safe and reasonable to do so. Immediate safety, privacy-regulator, consumer-protection, intellectual-property, or other legal remedies remain available as provided by law.

Contact and severability

Questions about these terms can be submitted through the Contact page. Identify the relevant section and issue. A website response does not amend these terms unless an authorized written agreement explicitly does so.

If a provision is found unenforceable, it will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary while the remaining provisions continue, where law permits. A delay in enforcing a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.

Third-party route: External providers control their own service

Frequently asked questions

Are the calculators professional designs?

No. They are general planning tools. Verify inputs and work with qualified professionals, manufacturers, utilities, and authorities for the actual system.

Can I rely on a displayed product price?

No. Prices, stock, bundles, financing, shipping, tax, warranty, and seller status change. Confirm the complete transaction at the destination before purchase.

Does a link mean HomeBackup.net endorses the destination?

No. Links can provide sources, context, or commercial routes. External services control their own claims, transactions, privacy, security, and performance.

May I print a guide for my household?

Yes, a reasonable personal, noncommercial copy is permitted. Republishing substantial content, selling it, or removing attribution is not.

Can I use a generator indoors if a window is open?

No. Combustion generators must be operated outdoors and away from openings according to current government and manufacturer guidance. An open window does not make indoor operation safe.

Does submitting an installation form create a contract?

No. It is a request for communication and does not guarantee a quote, match, acceptance, price, license, insurance, permit, or completed project.

What if local law gives me additional rights?

Mandatory rights and protections remain in effect. Disclaimers and limitations apply only to the extent permitted by the law that governs the issue.

How are disputes raised?

Use the Contact page with the relevant term and requested resolution when appropriate. These terms do not remove rights to use regulators, courts, or urgent remedies available by law.
