A practical description of information collected through the site, why it is used, and the choices available to visitors.
Effective July 22, 2026. This policy describes HomeBackup.net website practices. The site operator must review it whenever plugins, advertising, analytics, forms, hosting, email, affiliate networks, consent tools, or business processes change. It is general information and not legal advice.
Forms ask for information relevant to the request and warn against sensitive data.
Contact, installation, security, analytics, and advertising uses are described by category.
Hosting, email, analytics, ad, affiliate, and destination sites can process data differently.
Consent tools, browser controls, ad settings, GPC, and contact requests may apply.
Operational, legal, security, correction, and communication needs determine retention.
Reasonable safeguards reduce risk but cannot guarantee that online data is invulnerable.
Scope and operator contact
This policy applies to HomeBackup.net pages, calculators, contact forms, installation-request forms, and related website features. It does not control a manufacturer, retailer, affiliate network, advertising provider, installer, utility, social platform, or other site reached through an external link. Those services publish their own terms and privacy notices.
Privacy questions and requests can be submitted through the Contact page by choosing Privacy request. Use the minimum information needed to describe the request. Do not send government identifiers, financial credentials, passwords, medical records, or a full identity file in the first message.
Information collected directly
The contact form collects name, email address, topic, optional page URL, message, consent confirmation, form timing, and spam-control signals. The installation form can collect name, email, optional phone, ZIP code, property and project categories, electrical service range, solar and fuel status, timeline, critical-load description, project notes, and consent confirmations.
Theme 1.8.0 sends contact and installation submissions to the WordPress administration email and does not create a contact or lead record in the WordPress database. The receiving mail provider, hosting environment, security tools, backups, or server logs may retain related information under their configurations.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, hosting and security systems may record IP address, request time, URL, referrer, browser and device information, response status, and diagnostic or security events. WordPress and active plugins can set cookies or local-storage items for authentication, preferences, comments, security, performance, consent, or embedded services.
The contact and quote handlers derive a short-lived, salted hash from the network address to rate-limit repeated submissions. The theme does not use that hash to build a visitor profile. Hosting, content delivery, firewall, anti-spam, and email providers can apply their own fraud and security processing.
Why information is used
Information may be used to deliver pages, operate calculators, send a requested response, review a correction, handle a privacy request, evaluate an installation inquiry, maintain editorial records, investigate abuse, secure the site, debug failures, measure performance, comply with law, and establish or defend legal rights.
HomeBackup.net does not ask visitors to create an account to read public guides. Form information should not be used for unrelated marketing unless a separate, clear choice is offered. An installation request is permission to contact the submitter about that request, not blanket consent to sell or share the details with installers without an updated disclosure and consent flow.
Cookies, analytics, and consent
Cookies and similar technologies can remember consent, support security, measure visits, attribute affiliate referrals, prevent fraud, and serve or measure advertising. Essential technologies may operate to provide the requested site or security function. Analytics and advertising technologies may require consent or opt-out controls depending on the visitor and applicable law.
When ads are served to visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Google requires publishers to use a certified consent management platform for relevant personalized-ad serving. A privacy policy is not a substitute for an operational consent mechanism. Visitors can use the displayed consent controls and browser settings to manage nonessential technologies where available.
Google advertising and analytics
HomeBackup.net may use Google advertising or measurement services. Google and other third-party vendors may use cookies to serve ads based on visits to this and other sites, measure advertising, protect against fraud, and personalize content or ads subject to settings and consent. Google explains how it uses information from partner sites in its published privacy materials.
Visitors can review Google Ads Settings to control personalized advertising. Other advertising vendors or networks, if enabled, should be identified through the applicable consent interface or policy update. The site operator must keep this disclosure aligned with the vendors actually active on the site.
Affiliate links and external destinations
Some outbound links may contain affiliate or referral parameters. A merchant or network can use cookies, device data, URL parameters, and transaction information to attribute an eligible action. HomeBackup.net may receive confirmation that a referral converted and related reporting information. The destination controls account, checkout, payment, shipping, and order data.
Visitors can avoid an affiliate route by navigating to the destination independently. External sites are not controlled by this policy. Review the destination’s privacy policy before supplying personal or payment information. The Affiliate Disclosure explains the commercial relationship.
Service providers and disclosure
Information can be processed by providers that host the website, deliver email, secure the site, manage consent, measure usage, serve advertising, attribute referrals, maintain backups, or provide technical support. They process information under their own contracts, settings, and legal obligations. Data can cross state or national borders when a provider operates internationally.
Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect users or the public, investigate fraud or abuse, enforce terms, or manage a business transfer. HomeBackup.net does not claim that advertising-related “sharing” has the same legal meaning in every jurisdiction. Applicable privacy law defines the term.
Retention and deletion
Retention depends on purpose. Server logs and security events may be kept for a limited operational period. Contact email can be retained long enough to respond, maintain a correction record, prevent abuse, preserve consent evidence, meet legal obligations, or resolve a dispute. Affiliate, analytics, and advertising providers set their own retention periods.
A valid deletion request will be evaluated against applicable law and exceptions. Information may need to be retained for security, fraud prevention, legal claims, tax or accounting, compliance, or a requested service. Deleting a message from one mailbox may not immediately remove encrypted backups or provider logs that expire on a separate schedule.
Privacy rights and choices
Depending on location and applicable law, a visitor may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, restrict, object, opt out of certain sale or sharing, limit sensitive-information use, withdraw consent, or receive data portability. California guidance also recognizes Global Privacy Control as an opt-out signal for covered businesses that sell or share personal information.
HomeBackup.net will evaluate requests under the law that applies to the operator and requestor. Identity may need to be verified, and an authorized agent may need to provide authority. The site will not discriminate for exercising a valid right. Some rights and response duties apply only when legal thresholds are met.
Children’s privacy
HomeBackup.net is directed to adults planning household backup power and is not designed for children under 13. The site does not knowingly solicit personal information from a child under 13. If a parent or guardian believes a child submitted personal information, use the Privacy request topic so the report can be investigated.
COPPA applies to operators of child-directed services and to certain operators with actual knowledge of collecting personal information from children under 13. This site should not introduce child-directed forms, profiling, or marketing without a separate legal and product review.
Security and data minimization
The theme uses nonces, server-side validation, a hidden spam field, timing checks, sanitization, and short rate limiting for its forms. HTTPS, secure hosting, software updates, least-privilege access, backups, mail security, and plugin review are also important. No website, email transmission, or storage system can guarantee absolute security.
Visitors can reduce risk by sending only necessary information, avoiding passwords and sensitive identifiers, using a trusted network and current browser, and contacting the appropriate manufacturer, utility, installer, or emergency service through its official channel for account or safety issues.
Policy changes
This policy can change when the site activates a new analytics, advertising, consent, affiliate, form, hosting, or lead-sharing process; changes its operator or location; or responds to legal requirements. A material update should revise the effective date and, when appropriate, provide a prominent notice or renewed choice.
The policy must describe actual practice. Installing this WordPress package does not itself prove compliance with every privacy law or advertising program. The site operator remains responsible for reviewing active plugins, scripts, vendors, contracts, consent settings, request procedures, and legal thresholds.
Frequently asked questions
Does the contact form save messages in WordPress?
The Theme 1.8.0 handler emails the administration address and does not create a contact record in the WordPress database. Email, hosting, security, and backup systems can still retain related information.
Does the installation form share my data with installers?
The Theme 1.8.0 form emails the site administrator and does not automatically share a submission. Any future sharing requires an updated disclosure and appropriate consent before it occurs.
Does HomeBackup.net use advertising cookies?
The site may use Google or other advertising services. Active vendors and consent choices should be shown through the site’s current consent tools and policy. Visitors can also use provider and browser controls.
Can I opt out of personalized ads?
Google provides Ads Settings, and a consent interface may offer choices based on location. Browser controls and industry opt-out tools can also affect advertising cookies.
Does the site sell personal information?
HomeBackup.net does not describe direct sale of contact-form data as part of the current process. Advertising or referral activity can be legally defined as sharing in some jurisdictions, so applicable opt-out rights are honored where required.
How do I request deletion?
Use the Contact page and choose Privacy request. Describe the information and context without sending unnecessary sensitive identifiers. Verification and legal exceptions may apply.
Is the site intended for children?
No. It is directed to adults planning household backup power and does not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13.
Who controls data after I follow an external link?
The manufacturer, retailer, affiliate network, advertiser, installer, or other destination controls its own processing. Review that party’s privacy policy before providing information.
